Christopher Alvin Stapleton was born on April 15, 1978, and is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer, as well as the husband of Morgane Stapleton (nee Hayes). He hails from Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky. In 2001, he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, with the goal of obtaining an engineering degree from Vanderbilt University. However, he opted to drop out of school to pursue his music career instead. Stapleton proceeded to sign a contract with Sea Gayle Music to write and publish his music.
