The Guardians of the Galaxy are a band of former intergalactic outlaws who have teamed together to protect the Galaxy from planetary threats. A sentient, tree-like accomplice of Rocket Raccoon, Groot sacrificed himself to save his new friends. As he propagated from a cutting rescued by Rocket, Groot rejoins the other Guardians of the Galaxy as an infant, slowly relearning the heroism that previously defined him.
